For over 30 years, Paul has been studying painting from various artists across the country. He started as an acrylic artist specializing in folk art but eventually transitioned to an oil painter with an interest in still life painting, floral painting, and most specifically, landscape painting. Paul can often be found outside behind an easel as he realizes that plein air painting and learning how natural light works is essential in developing the painterly realism that he desires. Currently, Paul splits his time between plein air painting from life and studio painting as he finds that one informs the other.

FEATURED ARTIST
I love finding innovative ways to felt colorful wool fibers to create interpretive paintings. I am especially inspired to capture the emotion of expressive human faces. I’ve experimented with these elements - color, design, and texture - in a variety of textile and fiber arts over the years--sewing clothes, costumes and even flags, reupholstering furniture, quilting, knitting, weaving and most recently, visible mending. It was knitting that lead me to fiber painting.
FEATURED ARTIST
"I like color and texture and big art and loud laughter. That is what I bring to the canvas through my work. Having spent almost 24 years in a profession that required me to wear a uniform and follow rules, I found that making art helped keep me balanced. "
